The “72er” is our most sold and probably most prolific coast fly.
Its tail is made from extra soft and long spey hackles while the three body and front hackles are segmented for extra movement.
This pattern fishes well all season and under almost all conditions, but has proven especially efficient in slighlty murky and turbulent water while being stripped fast. However, due to the super soft materials and its transparancy it can also be fished slowly in calm, clear water.
By the way, the unconventionell name stems from the first fish ever caught on this fly – a fat 72cm autumn fish from the baltic coast.
